England plays down defeat
England captain Eoin Morgan has moved quickly to dismiss any notion his side is an easier target for Australia this week after an historic loss to cricketing minnow Scotland.
The hosts celebrated wildly after bowling out England for 365 to post a famous six-run victory in Edinburgh, their first over the world’s No.1 ranked one-day side.
The loss has cast some doubt over England’s overwhelming favouritism for the five-match series against an inexperienced Australian outfit, which begins at The Oval tomorrow.
Morgan said the result was not the “end of the world” given it was, for England, just a warm-up.
