Coolaroo has picked up its second consecutive win after downing an undermanned Toowoomba Tigers 20.11 (131) to 9.10 (64) at Rockville Oval.

The accurate display in front of goal was highlighted by forward Adam Green, who booted home a season-high eight goals.

Coach Jon Weidman said the team benefited from being able to field its strongest lineup of the season to date.

“Adam’s in good nick himself. On Saturday he kicked eight, and was the beneficiary of some good ball work in the middle and good delivery into the forward line,” Weidman said.

“It’s starting to look pretty good. We have guys coming back from injury, and for the first time we had a full 22.

“Our goal is to win the next two games (against Highfields) to set us up for a good crack at South Toowoomba.”

USQ moved into outright first on the Allied Pickford’s Cup ladder with a hard-fought 9.11 (65) to 6.8 (44) win over South Toowoomba.

Despite finding themselves down by 18, the Bombers were able to get within two goals heading into the final term, but weren’t able to crack the league’s best defensive unit.

Mach Mach, Jackson Paynter and Jacob Hawksworth each had two goals in a winning effort.

Daniel O’Toole has set the benchmark for goalscorers in 2018, booting home 13 in Goondiwindi’s 36.12 (228) to 3.2 (20) win against Dalby.

The win was the second of the season for last year’s grand finalists, and keeps them within striking distance of the finals race with an upcoming fixture against the Saints at home.

South Burnett moved into a share of second with a 17.15 (117) to 11.9 (75) win over Highfields at Kratzke Oval.

The Lions led at the first change with scores tied at the main break, before a final quarter explosion saw the Saints push away for a comfortable win in the end. Joseph Amery kicked four goals for the afternoon.

The Cougars had previously been awarded two victories due to forfeits, and Saturday’s win showed they are a threat to Toowoomba, who remained unbeaten with a 14.21 (105) to 0.1 (1) victory against South Burnett.
