HE’S JUST A GOOD GENUINE RACE HORSE. HE LOVES IT HERE AT CLIFFORD PARK AND HE’S RACING REALLY WELL AT THE MOMENT.

RACING: General Cos snatched a dramatic Clifford Park win on Saturday night.

The four-year-old was well back in the field for the majority of the Lysaght Zenith Range BM70 Handicap (1210m) before storming home.

Trainer Neville Saunders said he expected the gelding, who won by 0.2 of a length, to finish fast.

“He was coming back a 100m from his last race when he probably could’ve been going up a 100m,” Saunders said.

“It worked out well in the end, though.

“When we looked at the race we thought it could be a fast one early.

“He (General Cos) wasn’t going to be able to match the ground speed early but we knew he’d finish fast.

“Baylee (Nothdurft) rode a good race too.”

The win adds to what has been a very impressive 2018 for General Cos.

Since January 28, General Cos has picked up five wins – including two wins from his last two starts.

“He’s just a good genuine race horse,” Saunders said.

“He loves it here at Clifford Park and he’s racing really well at the moment.”

Saunders said he would now turn his attention to finding other suitable races for General Cos.

“We will nominate him for a Benchmark 75 race at the Sunshine Coast this weekend,” Saunders said.

“Whether he races or not will depend on how he pulls up this week.

“Those are the type of races we will look at for him – races around that level.”
