Taylor’s Removals team celebrates milestone
ONE of Toowoomba’s oldest businesses has reached a major milestone, celebrating its 100th anniversary.
Taylor’s Removals has a long history as a family-owned and operated business in Toowoomba, from its start in 1918 when it launched the first horse and dray service, to its current operation of 25 local employees with a fleet of 30 vehicles servicing Toowoomba and Australia with removals.
Taylor’s Removals has not only long-term success in the Toowoomba business community, but also a unique family heritage in management - a direct bloodline from today’s owners to the original founder.
Managing director Melissa Taylor, the great grand-daughter of founder William George Taylor, said she believed the success of the business could be put down to family values.
“Taylor’s Removals is a family business with family values,” she said.
“This centenary year is about so much more than a company celebrating 100 years of existence.
“It is about what can be achieved when a business refuses to deviate from or dilute the values that its founder held dear.”

honour to be the custodian of the Taylor family business and legacy.
“Taylor’s today is physically so different from the horses and dray that it began with 100 years ago, however some things have not changed,” she said.
“We are still a family business. Our core values are something we genuinely live by today, just as our founder did, 100 years ago.
“We are immensely proud of what our family, our company and its valued staff have accomplished across the decades.
“We still move families and goods in and out of Toowoomba, but today we move a growing number to and from destinations around the globe.”
In 2015 the business was also inducted to the Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame.
