MEN’S BOWLS ASSOCIATIO­N

The Draw for this year’s Pennants was carried out by the match committee.

All clubs should have received them by email , if not let Doug Blinco know.

They will also be put on the website asap.

Clubs that have not paid the nomination fee are to do so, all clubs are reminded that capitation fees were due as from June 30 and are now over due.

Clubs must be financial to enter DDBA events.

Selectors have named the following teams to play in the Quad Series against, Cunningham, Gateway and Gold Coast DBa’s at the Logan City Bowls club Sunday, August 5. Arrival time 8.15 am.

As in past years players and teams are to arrange own travel arrangemen­ts and share costs.

Laser Electrical jackpot pairs was played in perfect winter weather on Sunday, July 15. Winners on the day were Ralph Townsend and Graham Woods. The jackpot did not go off and will stand at $300 at the next Laser Pairs on Sunday, August 12.

The competitio­n fours scheduled for July 28 has been postponed. A new date is to be advised.

CROWS NEST

Wednesday, July 11 men's social bowls was won by Roy Bell, Bevan Wingett and Peter Coman. Runners-up were Tony Ryan, Roger Brashaw and Billy the Kid Schier from Drayton BC.

2017-18 intra-club matches called for Saturday, July 21.

With regard to intra-club matches called prior to the imminent AGM, they will need to be "play, sub or forfeit" in order to finalise the year's timetable.

The next management committee meeting of the club is tentativel­y scheduled scheduled for Sunday, August 19 at 9.30am in the clubhouse.

The annual Pennants season will restart from Saturday, August 11 to October 6. You're encouraged to add your name to the noticeboar­d list if you'd like to be involved.

Members, it's getting close to that part of the year when we start to think about the AGM and the 2018-19 management committee structure.

Instead of looking at others, why not throw your own hat in the ring this year?

Nomination­s are now open for all positions on the committee. Forms are available in the bar area.

The AGM will be held on Sunday, August 12, same time, same place.

NORTH TOOWOOMBA

Today is our usual men’s triples from 12.30pm. Visitors welcome please call 4639 2338 prior to 11.30am.

This Thursday’s ‘jackpot’ is $170 plus a dollar for every person playing today, but you must be present at the draw after the game to win.

Clubhouse and amenities will be open from 10am daily. Roll up or practice must be east-west, check with bar staff.

Tomorrow night, Friday, a two-course meal available from 6pm to 7.15pm. Men’s kitchen roster Steve Barnes, Brian Bowe, Glen Gainey, Mark Ellem, Tony Spanjol.

Next Tuesday mixed Jackpot pairs starting at 1pm. Names can be phoned in from 11am if you are interested in a game. This is a great opportunit­y to introduce new players for a social game of lawn bowls.

Membership subscripti­on renewals are now due ($110) and the Pennants season will start on August 11 – also

the day of the AGM. There will be a Pennants list at the clubhouse for those wishing to participat­e and are required as soon as possible to enable selectors to start sorting out teams. Further nomination­s for the fours club championsh­ips are now being accepted with forms available at the club. Entry fee $10 per player per competitio­n.

Dates for the diary:There are only two more rounds of the RDO this year. This Saturday, July 21 at Souths. At the moment we need five more players for this Saturday. The last round, July 28 is at home and we will need 12 players for that Saturday.

This is a trophy which we have won the past two years. It would be good to finish this season on a positive note. Anyway, please give it some thought.

Saturday Arvo $200 open pairs are on again August 4 from midday.

Further we need 24 mixed players to match the visiting Evans Head players for this Sunday, July 22.

At the last management committee meeting there was a discussion concerning a proposed amalgamati­on of the men’sand ladies clubs.

The motion to have a special general meeting for the sole purpose of considerin­g this was carried unanimousl­y.

All members are asked to attend and will be duly advised within fourteen days of the meeting set down at 5pm on Thursday, July, 26.

Proxy forms are now available at the club.

PITTSWORTH

This Sunday is the Megan O’Hara-Sullivan sponsored afternoon, starting at 12.30pm, for full members only. Cost is $8 each. Good trophies.

More members are required to support our sponsor, so please put your names on the sheet.

Please don’t forget to put your names on the sheet for Sunday, July 29 which is the Barefoot bowls/fundraiser for the Variety Bash. Cost is $10 each or $15 for a family, which includes lunch at noon with bowls to start at 12.30pm. Everybody is welcome.

Please note: Sunday, August 19 is the Bowls Club Combined annual general meeting, starting at 9am, followed by patrons’ (men and ladies) bowls afternoon. Coral and Clarrie are supplying afternoon tea.

CABARLAH LADIES

On Tuesday the Ladies participat­ed in the competitio­n single v par. The trophy was presented by the club.

Winner was Petae Frazer with +5, followed by Lotte Pedersen with a +3.

The rundown went to Linda Ryan and Jessella McConnell, both on -1.

Pins were won on 1/1 Lotte Pedersen, 4/6 Janelle Kruse and 4/15 Lotte Pedersen.

Next Tuesday the Cabarlah Ladies will be hosting their open day, and it looks to be an excellent roll up of players from the district and beyond.

Also at Cabarlah on Friday, July 27, ennants will be played.

The Ridge Golf Club hosted 99 players in a single stableford event hosted by T.S. Burstow, on July 16.
