Zen garden in just six months for new entrant

-

IN JUST six months Anthony Zorzi has completely transformed his garden from an ordinary suburban backyard to a glorious oriental oasis.

Anthony is entering The Chronicle Garden Competition for the first time and is looking forward to showing off his garden and meeting visitors.

“When I started work on the garden it was really overgrown with lots of rocks in all the wrong places,” he said.

“I decided to give it a complete overhaul and began by moving the rocks around, repurposing them to make a feature.

“It was a bit like a big puzzle in the beginning and then I decided to follow a Japanese theme and it all fell into place.

“Little oriental decorations, water feature and plants including bamboo, cypress, azaleas and maples help to bring the look together.

“I didn’t know how to shape the trees in the traditional Japanese way but I experimented until I got the look I wanted.”

Anthony says he learned a lot about gardening from his mum.

“Mum gives me lots of good advice on the garden and in the evenings we often just sit out on the patio and enjoy it,” he said. It’s not too late to enter The Chronicle Garden Competition.

Entries close at 4pm today, for more information call Letitia Robarts on (07) 4690 9308 or pop into The Chronicle front counter at 109 Neil St, Toowoomba.
