Bev and Pat swap family home for country lifestyle

-

HOME owners Bev and Pat Kinsella have discovered a peaceful country lifestyle at Living Gems Toowoomba.

Since moving from their large family home in February 2017, Bev and Pat have been enjoying the freedom and flexibility of right-sizing.

Bev is no stranger to country living, having grown up in the small country town Monto, Queensland.

Pat called Brisbane home after his immigration from Ireland, which is where the two first met.

They were married in 1975 and moved to Hervey Bay where they started the next chapter of their lives.

The decision to move to Living Gems Toowoomba was initially for practicality; right-sizing translated to less housework for Bev and Pat, as their previous home had four bedrooms and two lounge rooms.

However, not long after moving into the resort, they quickly became involved in all the social events on offer.

“I like to join in the Steady Steps, line dancing and aqua aerobic classes organised by the social committee and Pat enjoys the lawn bowls and virtual golf,” Mrs Kinsella said.

“The committee also organises a weekly bus trip to the local shopping centres, so I like to go along to that,” she said.

“Pat and I also enjoy the movie evenings on Sunday in the country club cinema.”

“Everyone here is so friendly, we have made new friendships since moving in, especially since we were among the first to move here.”

The Kinsellas would visit the Darling Downs region on family holidays and came to love the unique green landscape.

“We really enjoy driving, it is our favourite way to get out, you see so much more that way,” Mrs Kinsella said.

“After a few trips to Toowoomba we knew it would be somewhere we wanted to live.”

Now that Bev and Pat are settled at Living Gems Toowoomba, they can lock up and go with the certainty that their home is in a gated resort.

“Pat and I spend a lot of time at the North Coast, we’ve gone as far as Cairns; we also like to go down to Victoria to visit our son and my sister, on the way we stop in to visit friends,” Mrs Kinsella said.

“As for international travel, we have visited New Zealand and Tasmania, plus enjoyed a few cruises,” she said.

“We’ve also been back a number of times to Ireland and the UK to visit Pat’s rellies.

“We are currently planning where we will go next; our favourite idea at the moment is to take the train over to Perth.”

Whilst the Kinsellas are often out and about, they still find time to snuggle each morning by the gas fireplace with their cats, Suki and Kacy.

They find their two-bedroom, two-bathroom home is the perfect place to relax and unwind.
