I MOVED to Toowoomba in 2006, straight out of high school.

I was doing university in Toowoomba and in late 2006 my parents ended up moving to Toowoomba as well and they started a business at Clifford Gardens – Just Crazy Bargains.

And after a few years I was just partially involved in the business and from about 2011 I joined them full time and we expanded into Grand Central as well in 2014.

Since then I’ve been the operations manager of the two Just Crazy Bargains stores.

I was living in Brisbane before Toowoomba.

My parents were in business in Brisbane as well and they had an opportunity in Toowoomba, which they felt was more economical for us.

I came to Toowoomba for study purposes and they were wanting the more relaxed lifestyle as well. Back then it was only six-day trade in Toowoomba City.

What’s one thing I like about Toowoomba?

I like the easy, laid-back lifestyle, away from the hustle and bustle. However it’s still got all the feel of the city lifestyle as well.

Mele Ngahe

I WAS born here in Toowoomba at Toowoomba Hospital and I went to school at Harristown State High School. I graduated in 2015.

I’ve just been working here at Just Crazy Bargains since then. What’s one thing I love about Toowoomba?

I would have to say the events that go on here, and the multiculturalism.

With the events I’d say the Carnival of Flowers, multicultural day, and there’s some small events that go on within the islander community within Toowoomba.

We’ve got an annual sports day where each nationality verses each other in different sports just for the day, and we share food from our cultural backgrounds. That happens in November.

Any plans for the future? I’m not sure at the moment. I really don’t know.

Dhriti Hajrat:

I’M originally from Brisbane. I moved here about three and a half years ago in 2015 because I got married and my partner’s from here.

And I’ve worked here at Just Crazy Bargains since then. What’s one thing I love about Toowoomba?

Over here in Toowoomba, I almost feet like I know everybody.

Whereas in a big city, you kind of get lost in the crowd. You’re just some other person.

But here in Toowoomba, every other person you bump into you kind of know them.

It’s nice, and the people are nice. As far as the future goes, it’s just a matter of wherever it takes me. But until then I’ll work here.
