RISING songstress Meg Beth has launched her first EP album in Toowoomba, giving melody and lyrics to her experiences as a high school student.

With a live performance at Walton Stores on Saturday, the emerging teenage star launched Take Me Away which carries five songs she wrote.

“The songs are just from my experiences and other things I’ve read about (and) sing about,” Beth, 16, said.

“I try to make relateable songs and stories so anyone can relate because they’re about my experiences.”

It has been a year-long project for the songstress, working with her family producing the album.

“I started writing songs when I was about 10 but it wasn’t really serious,” she said.

“Then I got to Grade 7 when I first started high school and that’s what kind of helped me through the tough times.

“And I thought, ‘I actually want to do this, like, for real’.”

Take Me Away launched on streaming platforms Spotify and iTunes to coincide with the EP launch on Saturday.

Beth said she is influenced by the music she listens to, and described her songs as a mix of pop and indie, along with piano ballads.

“I’m so grateful for everyone who has helped me through this,” the Concordia Year 11 student said.

“My uncle Phil Hirvela, he’s got a studio in Brisbane and he produced all my songs, and I just want to thank the band for coming and playing for me.”

Beth said she hoped the EP was the first album in a career in music which she would continue pursuing.
