Readers have their say on who is their favourite
A TOOWOOMBA butcher dedicated to selling top quality local meats has been voted the best in town.
Michelle and Luke Jensen own both The Ridge Meats and Westridge Meats and residents can’t get enough of their products.
As part of The Chronicle’s Best Of series for 2018, Facebook readers were asked to nominate their favourite Toowoomba butcher.
It appears residents are passionate about their butchers with thousands of nominations rolling in.
The Ridge Meats and Westridge Meats came out on top, closely followed by Andrew’s Meats and Ashton’s Butchery.
It isn’t the couple’s first win in the Best Of series, they also have the best pies in town, according to our readers.
The best pie title was announced late last month and since then both stores have been inundated with pie requests.
Mrs Jensen said not only were their pies popular, their steaks were also best sellers.
“We have amazing steak. Customers love our rib fillet, tbone and rump,” she said.
“Our beautiful, fresh cuts come from the Warwick and Killarney areas. Luke talks to our beef producer every week to ensure the consistency of our product.
“All this hot weather is perfect for steak and salad dinners.
“Another one of our best sellers is our lasagne.
“It’s so popular my mum who makes it struggles to keep up the supply.
“The lasagne is great for people who are busy and struggle to find the time to cook a family meal.
“Just like her pies, mum’s lasagnes are made from scratch with fresh produce and no packet mixes or additives.”
The website www.westridgemeats.com.au will launch next week, just in time for Christmas where customers can order products online and have it home delivered.
