Weather set to finally cool down in Toowoomba

-

THE blistering heat of the past few days appears to now be a thing of the past, with temperatures dropping 10 degrees this morning.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Gabriel Branescu said a southerly change was behind the drop.

“With that southerly change you can expect some shower and rain activity that started overnight and moved into this morning,” he said.

“That should be clear by about midday.

“It’s the end of that hot stretch of temperatures, it’s over. Yesterday was the last hot day (as part of this heatwave).”

Mr Branescu said the change would see Toowoomba go from well above the average maximum temperature for November to well below it.

“The average for November is 26 degrees,” he said.

“Yesterday, it was 34 degrees and today it will be 23 degrees,” he said.

Temperatures will remain slightly cooler then average right until early next week, when they will rise to just above average.

The heatwave caused numerous health problems across the Darling Downs.

Across Sunday and Monday, seven people were taken to Darling Downs-based hospitals due to heat related issues.

Three people were treated for heat related issues by paramedics on Tuesday.
