Achievement for FKG
Data centre earns state recognition
‘‘ PULSE DATA CENTRE IS AN INVESTMENT IN QUEENSLAND’S FUTURE. PETER BLUNT
TOOWOOMBA’S landmark Pulse Data Centre in the city’s western suburbs has earned major State Government recognition, just six months after opening.
The $40 million data centre, spearheaded and built by Toowoomba company FKG Group, was appointed to the official Queensland Government information and communications technology supplier panel.
The achievement will allow government departments and agencies to engage with Pulse based on pre-negotiated prices and conditions.
PDC general manager Peter Blunt called the move a vote of confidence for both the data centre and business in Toowoomba.
“Since our official opening in April 2018, Pulse Data Centre has won recognition as the nation’s first regional tier III data centre, reflecting the trend of large-scale data centres being located in lower-cost areas due to their economical land and building costs, enhanced security and ability to rapidly expand in response to client demand,” Mr Blunt said.
“The Queensland Government has a significant annual IT spend and we welcome their support for this Queenslandowned and operated data centre as a sign of their confidence in the state’s capabilities.”
Built on 30 hectares at Wellcamp, the centre has attracted national and international clients based on its 500m position above sea level, its value for money and location in a fast-growing part of the Toowoomba region.
“Customers ranging from leading financial institutions, government to global giants can take advantage of the centre’s flexible offerings, from single racks to extensive private suites, protected by a fully integrated video, building and rack access security system,” Mr Blunt said.
“Pulse Data Centre is an investment in Queensland’s future.
“We are delighted that the Queensland Government has recognised the importance of supporting innovation, through this official support for our state’s technological future.”
