Subway fights hunger
Residents help those in need
TOOWOOMBA and Darling Downs residents love their Subway and took full advantage of Subway’s Live Feed last week.
Residents supported the initiative by buying a sub, salad or wrap on Friday, November 3, and not only getting a free sub in return but also helping raise funds for Australia’s leading hunger organisation.
For every sub, salad or wrap bought on the day, a meal was donated to people in need though Foodbank Australia.
According to the organisation, more than four million Australians have faced food insecurity at some point in the past 12 months, 22% of whom are children.
About 343,000 meals were donated across the nation and 85,000 of those were donated thanks to Queenslanders.
They will directly help school children, families in regional and remote areas and people experiencing food insecurity.
Subway at The Intersection took part in the day, and the dedicated sandwich artists were run off their feet both instore and in the drive-through.
Subway Australia CEO Geoff Cockerill said he was delighted to be part of Subway Live Feed for its second year.
“Food insecurity is a growing concern for Australians, from all walks of life,” he said.
“We were thrilled to yet again host the Subway Live Feed help fight hunger in Australia.
“We want to extend our thanks to everyone who visited their local Subway to raise hundreds of thousands of meals for Australians who struggle to put food on their plates for themselves and their families.”
