Toowoomba woman organises concert for dad
TOOWOOMBA woman Elishia Hinrichsen is doing her part to help her father through the second round of his battle with cancer.
Mrs Hinrichsen is organising The Dig Deep for Darryn concert to raise funds to help her father and Toowoomba musician Darryn Carpenter.
Mr Carpenter was diagnosed with stage-four bowel cancer and lung lesions in March.
Mr Carpenter’s first operation resulted in major blood clots which caused a longer hospital stay, prolonging the time before he could begin treatment.
The musician would have to take the past four-and-a-half months off work which had been a hit on his entitlements.
Mrs Hinrichsen said it was around September when the family found out Mr Carpenter would require further treatment and was facing minimum of another three surgeries.
“After we found out the news, I started organising a fundraiser to help my parents through this ordeal,” Mrs Hinrichsen said.
“My father is a musician and has been playing in the band FATT for the past 15 years and I thought it would be ideal to hold a rock concert as a fundraising event.”
“I contacted several bands that had played with my father’s band in the past about the concert and they were all on board.”
The bands rostered for the concert are FATT, Remedy, Dirty Water, Band Co, Wayward Child and James Royal Band.
“My father and I have been really grateful for the support the community has shown us,” Mrs Hinrichsen said.
“We would like to thank Jeff
Smith from FATT and Nat Caldwell from Steel Rock Entertainment for their help in organising the event.”
