Appeal for last people to see man killed in horror Oakey smash
POLICE have appealed for the last people who spent time with a man killed in a fiery single-vehicle crash at Oakey to come forward.
Darling Downs local Christopher Grosso, 26, has been identified as the victim of the horror crash in the early hours of Monday morning.
Mr Grosso was the sole occupant of the Mitsubishi Pajero which was found engulfed in flames about 1.40am on Oakey Crosshill Rd.
Initial investigations suggest his vehicle left the rural road and crashed into a power pole, snapping it and cutting electricity to the surrounding area.
The 26-year-old died at the scene.
Formal procedures in the days since the incident confirmed Mr Grosso’s identity and his family was notified of the tragedy.
Darling Downs Country Patrol Services Acting Inspector Tony Neumann said police appealed to anyone who had spent time with Mr Grosso on Sunday to contact police.
It is understood Mr Grosso, who lived on the Darling Downs, had a number of associates and was known across the district.
“(Police ask that) anyone who had contact with Christopher on the Sunday prior to the accident to contact police,” he said.
“We are keen to speak with anyone (who saw Mr Grosso) on the Sunday prior.”
It follows an initial appeal from police for any members of the public who witnessed the crash, or who had information, to contact authorities.
Forensic Crash Unit is continuing its investigations into the cause of the crash which closed the road for several hours on Monday.
