This is where fresh costs less

Town Proud for over 20 years

AFTER working for the Angliss Group and managing the Toowoomba region for over two decades, Peter McCullagh took ownership of the Toowoomba store in 1996, after the Angliss Group disbanded.

What followed, has been a labour of love from the McCullagh family and their staff.

Starting with just two employees, Angliss Toowoomba has grown to now employ over 55 staff members in the Toowoomba area alone.

“Ever since I was a child, all I’ve known is Angliss — from helping with deliveries in school holidays, to starting a career in the office after finishing high school, and now continuing what my father started,” Matthew McCullagh said.

Peter entered the industry as a teenager, because he believed being qualified in a trade is of high importance.

Now, with his 40–plus years of knowledge, experience, and determination to succeed, he has made the company what it is today.

Angliss Meats has up to eight delivery trucks supplying Toowoomba and the surrounding districts, from Monday to Saturday every week.

They deliver goods to private customers, local hospitals, schools, restaurants and clubs.

“You might not have come into the shop yet, but chances are you’ve eaten our meat somewhere,” Matthew said.

Peter said Angliss Meats caters for all the traditional fresh meats they’ve always supplied, but now also stock more value–added products which don’t require much preparation time at home, for the convenience of the customer.

According to the McCullaghs the biggest change they’ve noticed over the years, is that retail customers are returning to their local butcher for meat, instead of going to supermarkets which can be over–priced. “Our online store and Facebook page allows us to connect with our customers on a closer, more personal level,” Peter said.

our customers, especially the outer–town and districts where butcher shops are few and far between,” Matthew said.

Angliss Meats pride themselves on their excellent customer service and quality products.

“We live by our motto, ‘where fresh costs less’ and we say ‘where Angliss leads, the rest follow’,” Peter said, adding that their goal is to supply their customers with the best quality meat products at the lowest prices.
