High quality on offer sees Dalby Stock Horse Sale top at $42,000
BIDDERS from as far afield as New York competed for 228 lots at the 44th Annual Dalby Stock Horse Sale with sales under the hammer totalling more than $1.8 million.
The top sale was a $42,000 purchase of Narrego Miss Spinductor (Lot 187) to Rob and Coralie Daly of Roma, Queensland.
B.G. Eykamp of Quirindi, New South Wales, was the vendor of the seven-year-old mare, sired by Conductor and out of Sunland Opal.
The president of the Darling Downs branch of the Australian Stock Horse Society, Jim Ryan, was at the event for all three days.
“It went really well and it was a really good sale,” Mr Ryan said.
“Considering the dry, tough time, the quality of the horses was really great.
“There were some there that wanted $11,000-$12,000 and got $20,000.”
There were 130 mares offered and 102 were sold with an average price of $11,156.
There was an offering of 93 geldings with 70 sold and an average price of $7150.
Out of four stallions offered, three were sold with the price averaging at $6500.
Ray White Dalby principal Roger Lyne said the quality of horses on offer this year was impressive given the challenge of extended dry conditions affecting many vendors.
“We had 77 per cent of horses sell at auction, and as well as the top $42,000 sale, five mares were sold for $30,000 each, three $28,000 sales were achieved and several others achieved over $20,000,” Mr Lyne said.
“It was a terrific occasion and wonderful to see registered bidders from beyond our shores. It was a fair sale compared to the season.”
Ray White Rural CEO Stephen Nell said the network support came from far and wide to ensure the success of the event.
“Our auctioneers worked skilfully and tirelessly throughout the sale, and they were supported by a big team behind the scenes,” Mr Nell said.
“Bid spotters took thousands of bids over the two days, with the office constantly bustling with vendors, bidders, competitors and agents.
