PICKING YOUR FESTIVE OUTFIT

-

Whether you’re intending on making a fashion statement or not, most people put quite a bit of consideration into what they wear for Christmas — be it for the actual day, or for parties and functions during the Christmas season.

It can be so difficult to choose what to wear, however, and to know what type of outfit suits what type of occasion.

Here Style magazine shares an easy–to–follow guide so whatever the occasion, you can dress to the nines.

STEP 1 — THE DRESS CODE

It’s not as common as it used to be to receive official invitations with the dress code listed for events and get–togethers.

A gathering for work at a restaurant or bar will often require casual cocktail dress, but a useful tip is to check out the social media account for the venue and gauge the formality of dress from the photos.

The same goes for if you’ve been invited out with friends, but often in this case you can tone down the formality a little more.

STEP 2 — THE FAIL–SAFE

Sometimes you can be as prepared for the dress code as could be, but still turn up to the function to find you stick out from the other revellers.

A cute dress can go from casual to semi–formal just by adding classy heels and a clutch.

Meanwhile, you can dress down by adding a light cardi or casual, simple jewellery.

STEP 3 — HAVING FUN

You could arrive to an event looking the most glamorous version of yourself, but if you can’t move without getting blisters on your feet or having a wardrobe malfunction, where’s the point in that?

When planning your outfit, consider all the possibilities and dress appropriately — will there be dancing at this work party? Is there a possibility you’ll have to sit on the ground at a family picnic?

While you want to look amazing, it’s also important to be comfortable enough to enjoy yourself.
