10 THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND
1. Carols at Peacehaven Park
When: Today from 5pm to 8pm
Where: Peacehaven Botanic Park, Kuhls Rd, Highfields
Everyone is invited to this year’s annual Carols at Peacehaven Park to celebrate the festive season.
The program includes a mixture of traditional and modern carols and a visit by St Nicholas to collect donated toys for The Smith Family.
Food and drink will be available and the evening will end with a spectacular fireworks display.
Entry is free, but a gold coin donation will be appreciated.
2. Cooking demonstration
When: Today from 10am to 11am Where: Grand Central Celebrity chef Alastair McLeod will show the Garden City how to nail the perfect Christmas lunch.
The cooking demonstration will be held in the Grand Central Market Room Kitchen outside Woolworths on level 1
McLeod’s culinary showcase is free to watch.

3. Twilight markets
When: Today from 3pm to 8pm Where: Queens Park
This year’s twilight markets will reflect an inner city Eat Street vibe.
The market will provide an excellent opportunity to purchase Christmas gifts and to enjoy delicious food.
There will be a variety of stalls, live music and a wide range of activities for children at the market.
Admission is $2 for adults and free for children.
Funds from the event will be donated to the Drayton Scouts Group.
4. Garden jazz
When: Tomorrow from 12.30pm to 2.30pm
Where: Kingfisher Cafe, 333 Spring St, Toowoomba
Music-lovers are invited to come along and enjoy an afternoon of easy-listening jazz.
Musicians Courtney Feldman and Jess Betts will provide a range of contemporary jazz tunes.
Ms Feldman has studied with a number of world-class professionals such as Jeannie LoVetri, Brenda Earle Stokes and Sharny Russell.

5. Skate session
When: Today from 2pm to 5pm
Where: Westbrook Skate Park, Progress Ave, Westbrook
The Brisbane Redfrogs Crew will hold a skate session for young skaters.
Participants are welcome to bring their scooters, BMX, roller blades as well.
The event will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn some new tricks and to have some fun.

6. Charity screening
When: Today at 10.30am
Where: Birch Carroll and Coyle Cinemas Grand Central, Toowoomba
BCC Cinemas will hold a charity screening of Ralph Breaks the Internet this morning.
All tickets are $12, and the proceeds will go towards children’s hospitals around the country.
The charity screening is the product of a partnership between Event Hospitality and Entertainment and key children’s hospitals.

7. Bush poets muster
When: Today from 10am
Where: Level 3, Toowoomba City Library
The Toowoomba Bush Poets Group invites anyone interested in traditional craft of poetry to its meeting.
Poets of all skill levels are welcome to write, recite, perform or listen to poetry at the meeting.
Bush poet Mick Martin will be at there to help poets with their craft.
Entry is $5 to which includes tea, coffee and parking.

8. Miniature steam train, Model T bus rides and Santa Express
When: Tomorrow from 10am to 2pm
Where: Highfields Pioneer Village, 73 Wirraglen Rd, Highfields
The Highfields Pioneer Village invites everyone to enjoy a ride on its miniature steam train and Model T bus.
The Santa Express will arrive at 10.30am.
A meet and greet will provide an opportunity to have a photograph taken with Santa Clause on his train.
The train has three passenger carriages and that can takes up to 20 people.
Billy tea, damper, cold drinks, ice blocks and a sausage sizzle for lunch will be available.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children.

9. Magical Mozart
When: Tomorrow at 3pm
Where: University of Southern Queensland Arts Theatre
The Toowoomba Concert Orchestra will hold its final performance of 2018 Magical Mozart. The performance will feature the
composer’s Concerto For Flute and Harp, K299.
Afternoon tea will be provided after the performance.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for concession and $5 for children under the age of 12.

10. Oakey Santa fair

Oakey
The Oakey Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to come and celebrate Christmas at its Oakey Santa Fair.
Stalls, rides, food, fireworks, entertainment and more will feature.
Santa will arrive by helicopter to celebrate.
