TOOWOOMBA fashion designer Camilla Hall cited travel as the inspiration behind her fashion line, due to be displayed at a pop-up store in Ruthven St this week.

Ms Hall, who has been running her business Mojo Santos online since last year, said she had always hoped to open a physical store.

She stocks a range of handmade products aimed at “making people feel beautiful,” the one-off pieces made from materials found on her travels.

“I fashioned kimonos on my return from Japan and I have found beautiful fabrics from my last trip, which was to India,” she said.

“I think of my designs as timeless - people of all ages can wear them.”

The pop-up store also stocks men’s clothes, jewellery and art, including her “ever-popular” customised yoga mats.

Ms Hall said her goal had always been to travel the world and return with the things she had found.

“I taught myself to sew using my grandma’s sewing machine when I was younger,” Ms Hall said.

“I love making things with my hands, such as painting and craft - I especially like the feel of textiles.

“I have had a positive reaction (to the brand) - more people these days are looking to support local businesses and are enjoying the handmade products.”

Ms Hall will man the pop-up store at 455 Ruthven St at various hours until December 31.

She will host a sip and shop event at the store this Saturday from 1pm-3pm.
