Champion sets sights on fourth Australian title
MOTORSPORT: Kevin Britten has three Australian V8 Dirt
Modified titles in his trophy cabinet.
The 25-year-old however, wants more and will be aiming for a fourth straight Aussie title in Toowoomba.
Britten will debut a new car at Archerfield Speedway on January 1, in a race honouring his late father Paul, and is confident he will be ready for the January 17-19 titles.
“To be honest I would’ve been fine debuting the new car in Toowoomba,” Britten said.
“I’ve been racing and working with these cars long enough to know what I need and what works.
“But being able to unveil it (the car) at Archerfield in a race honouring my dad will be good.
“Archerfield will be the last race we have before the titles but we also have a practice night at Toowoomba before the titles and we can always iron out any kinks then.”
Britten heads into the titles on the back of some mixed results but it is no less excited about the challenge that lies ahead.
“Unfortunately. my win at Kingaroy is the only feature race I’ve finished this season,” he said.
“I took some damage at Toowoomba and wasn’t able to finish the race, and I only completed a lap at Archerfield.
“I’m confident though – you have to be.
“Preparation matters a lot in these races – all the work you do beforehand is important.
“On the night you just have to make sure you concentrate, stay calm, do the little things right and steer clear of trouble.”
In a major bonus for speedway fans, the Australian AMCA Nationals Championship will run alongside the V8 Dirt Modified titles.
There will also be Street Stocks, Compact Speedcars, Production Sedans, F500 and Microsprints action.
