Scam alert

A TOOWOOMBA woman is warning people to be mindful of scammers after a message left on her home phone yesterday. The woman said a man with a heavy accent calling himself Michael said Centrelink had sent her several letters about her pension application, and she needed to call him back as soon as possible.

When she did and the man answered immediately, she grew suspicious and investigations revealed it to be a scam.

She said she had applied for the pension more than two years ago but dropped it when she was told she was ineligible.
