TOOWOOMBA student Naomi Ryan has been awarded a scholarship worth $22,500 to pursue her dreams in South Australia.

The 18-year old received a scholarship to the International College of Hotel Management and will begin studying later this month.

Ms Ryan said she was surprised when she found out she had been awarded the scholarship.

“It was quite a surreal moment,” she said. “It’s a privilege to be given this stepping stone for my career.”

Ms Ryan spent the past two years working to be accepted in the college, regarded as one of the top hotel schools in the world.

Ms Ryan said she looked forward to moving to Adelaide.

“I have lived in Toowoomba for basically my whole life and have only left the country once,” she said.

“I’m looking forward to it, and I will take every opportunity while I am down there.

“It will be a lot of fun while I find myself and my independence.”

Ms Ryan will undertake the college’s Bachelor of Business program and will be granted direct entry into the Master of International Hotel Management after.

She said she was grateful for the support her parents had given her.
