Lawyer Reagan Wilson takes on a new venture

‘‘ YOU’RE OFTEN BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH PEOPLE DURING INCREDIBLY TRAUMATIC PARTS OF THEIR LIVES. DIRECTOR REAGAN WILSON

FAMILY law with a personal touch is the concept behind the new law practice, Wilsons The Family Lawyers, that opened its doors in Toowoomba last week.

The practice is the brainchild of legal partner and director Reagan Wilson, who, with 20 years in the family law business, is in good stead to achieve his vision.

Mr Wilson started the boutique practice after finishing work at a larger Toowoomba-based firm last year.

“There was an opportunity to do something on a smaller scale which allowed us to offer clients a one-on-one service focusing on their individual cases and needs,” he said.

“(I decided) to move out of a much larger firm that had a more national focus to doing something more Toowoomba based and locally focused.”

Mr Wilson said he was first attracted to family law during his training in Hervey Bay and Mackay. He has since been named a pre-eminent family lawyer five years in a row.

“The main driver is the ability to help people. You’re often building relationships with people during incredibly traumatic parts of their lives,” Mr Wilson said.

“There’s research out there that says divorce is devastating as a death.

“The ability to see someone through that process respectfully and have them come out the other side with a good outcome - it’s very rewarding.”

The practice is located on level one of the Longs Quarter on Margaret St in a modern, newly renovated space.

“I love the heritage of the city and that was the appeal behind this office space,” he said.

“I think they’ve done a great job in terms of the light, the brick and the ceiling – it’s not a traditional lawyers office.”
