THE final preparations are being made for The Chronicle Lifeline Bookfest, now just over two weeks away.

The 2019 event will be the 39th year the popular book sale has been held in Toowoomba.

Marion Dent has volunteered with the event every year since its launch.

“I just love books,” Ms Dent said.

Ms Dent can be found at the Toowoomba Showgrounds a whole week before the sale begins setting up the Founders Pavilion for the mother of weekends for book lovers.

She is joined by Never Ending Stories manager Kelly Byrne.

“I’ve been doing Bookfest since I was a teenager,” Ms Byrne said.

The event is the major yearly fundraiser for Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Queensland.

“We are so grateful to the community for their generous donations of books, dolls and toys which enables us to put on such a fantastic sale,” CEO Derek Tuffield said.

“The Chronicle Lifeline Bookfest is a very important event for our organisation with all proceeds staying in our local area to fund our crisis support and suicide prevention services.

“We rely heavily on the funds raised to ensure we can continue to support those who are doing it tough.”

Mr Tuffield said volunteers were still needed for the event

“So if you can spare a few hours please call Nate on 4699 1625,” he said.

The Chronicle Lifeline Bookfest will be held on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3 at the Founders Pavilion at the Toowoomba Showgrounds, Glenvale Rd.

Doors will be open on the Saturday from 8am to 5pm and on the Sunday from 8am to 2pm.

There will be thousands of donated books on sale with nothing over $5 and many a lot less. For more information on the work Lifeline does visit lifelinedarlingdowns.org.au.
