New art works are on show

-

AUSTRALIAN movement artist and videographer Kirsty Lee is developing a series of new artworks called Finding Space.

Alexandra Lawson Gallery has partnered with Toowoomba Regional Council for a Regional Arts Development Fund Project: The Regions.

Project manager Alexandra Lawson said Kirsty Lee would make the work as a response to a series of conversations she would have with people who were invested in, or living in these places in order to identify the beauty and the intrigue of everyday space and the surroundings of a community.

Conversations are open to the public and will take place in Millmerran at 9am today at Forage Kitchen and Coffee Bar, Hampton on Saturday at 9.30am at Emeraude, Goombungee on Saturday at noon at Goombungee Antiques.

Through the conversations held in these locations, Ms Lee will create work which will reimagine the community’s understanding of their space and surroundings.

Ms Lee said the new video works would be imbued with colour, speed, repetition and form.

These visually ambiguous works invite the viewer to reimagine their sense of space and place.

The Regions, managed by Alexandra Lawson Gallery will bring local, national and international artists to the Toowoomba region throughout the first half of 2019.
