Comedy royalty to be special guest at next Sunrise Way event
FOLLOWING on from the success of yesterday’s sold-out event, Sunrise Way is already planning their next community fundraiser.
Sunrise Way is committed to helping individuals living with addiction to develop skills and strategies to maintain sobriety.
The organisation will often have a special celebrity guest at its events such as Andrew Slack and Dave Hughes; and next on the list is comedy royalty Fiona O’Loughlin.
The rehabilitation service will hold their major fundraising event of the year in June.
Sunrise Way CEO Wendy Agar said she was thrilled that Fiona O’Loughlin would be lending some star power to the fundraiser.
Ms O’Loughlin is one of the most in-demand comedians in the country.
As well as a critically acclaimed stand-up comedian, she is an accomplished writer, TV presenter and media personality.
“In recent years, Fiona has overcome a well-documented ‘battle with the bottle’. Her openness and honesty really cuts through,” Ms Agar said.
“Her battle, like the other aspects of her life, has become material for her stand-up.”
Ms Agar said people really responded to this type of honesty and that’s what made Ms O’Loughlin the perfect special guest.
She encouraged the community to get behind this event and book their tickets early.
The Sunrise Way fundraiser will be held on Saturday, June 15 at Rumours International.
Tickets are $145 and can be bought through toowoombatickets.com.au.
