Auction date for Claremont
High hopes for exquisite home
HAVING been on the market since mid-way through last year, the magnificent c1896 home at 91 Campbell St, Claremont, finally goes to auction next weekend.
In the eight months since it first listed, two unconditional contracts for the sale of the home had fallen through, Webster Cavanagh principal Andrew Webster said.
“Technically, it’s been sold twice... so we’re going to auction to get the property sold once and for all.”
Mr Webster said there was still plenty of interest in the home.
“We’ve got quite a few new buyers and we’ve got three or four buyers who were around when it went under contract in October,” he explained.
“There’s a lot of new interest, which is great because that high end of the market has seemingly slowed a little in the last six months.
“It was previously advertised at interest above $2 million. Now we’re going to auction to get it sold.”
Claremont, lovingly restored and maintained, sits on a 2130 sq m allotment in one of Toowoomba’s most prestigious streets.
The home features five bedrooms, five bathrooms, six toilets, six garage spaces, three living areas, an elegant formal living and dining room with gas fireplace, library, ducted underfloor reverse cycle air conditioning, and landscaped gardens.
Mr Webster said that contrary to the rumour around town, the property was not heritage listed.
The auction will be held onsite at 10am on Saturday, February 23.
