It is fast becoming one of the most anticipated fixtures on the TRL calendar, and this weekend promises to be no different.

The TRL All Stars are set to collide with the Southwest Queensland Emus Indigenous side at Clive Berghofer Stadium on Saturday, the third instalment of the event.

The Emus will be looking to replicate their last gasp heroics in 2018, as they came away with the victory to square the ledger at a win apiece.

Brett Seymour takes the reins as coach for the Indigenous side, and believes they have picked a squad that can get the job done.

“We’re shaping up pretty well. We’ve had a couple of training runs where we have had some good numbers,” Seymour said.

“We have combinations going from last year as well. Everyone is keen for the game and can’t wait for Saturday.

“Taking the win is the ultimate goal. It’s a friendly that is played in good spirits, but everyone wants to win and the competitive nature will come out.

“That will be the goal for us and the focus will be on doing everything for that 80 minutes to get the victory.”

The importance of pulling on the Emus jersey resonates among players, and Seymour said they would take that energy onto the field.

“Each player is representing their family and the area they’re from,” he said.

“For everyone to come together is a pretty special moment and for the families as well.

“It will be a huge day and we’re looking forward to the support of the local area.”

The TRL All Stars will be seeking revenge for how they fell last year.

Coach Ned Murphy said it was a challenge to narrow the final squad down on the back of an impressive showing from both Clydesdales sides against Brisbane Wests.

“It was very tough to pick the team. We feel we have a very strong side, even though there was some good players that had to miss out,” Murphy said.

“We’ve tried to keep a few club combinations together so it is easier (to gel).

“We were pretty impressed with how everyone went last game. A lot of the boys are playing for the Indigenous side.

“They’ve got some good speed and flashy players, so hopefully we can defend them.”
