Travelling hero thanked

-

DALBY: When the Robinsons emailed the Dalby Herald about trying to find the Dalby man who became their hero on a bushwalking track in NSW last month, they were sceptical about how quickly, if at all, they’d be able to find the mysterious Brad Smith.

Thanks to proud friends and family of the young Dalby man, less than an hour after the story ‘Do you know Brad?’ appeared on Facebook his family had been tracked down and put him in contact with the grateful couple.

Mr Smith met Mr and Mrs Robinson last month on a walking track connected to the glow worm tunnel near Lithgow, NSW, where Mr Robinson had fallen and was in need of assistance to get back to the couple’s car.

The couple went to see the glow worm tunnel after reading brochures that described it as an easy trip.

Instead they found the journey to be much longer and harder than they had expected.

During their return journey, Mr Robinson stumbled and fell, fracturing his nose and an eye socket and cutting his elbow and knee.

Mrs Robinson said her husband was dazed after his fall and could not get up.

“I was not strong enough to help him,” she said.

“It was late afternoon in the bush in the middle of nowhere with no phone reception.”

That was when Mr Smith found the stranded couple.

“He was able to get Alan on his feet and then offered to help him all the way back to the car,” Mrs Robinson said.
