THE Scottish duo whose foot-stomping hits have become staples of good nights out are on their way to Toowoomba this year.

Scotland’s finest Celtic soul brothers Craig and Charlie Reid are The Proclaimers and will bring their national tour to the Empire Theatre on Thursday, May 16.

It has been 32 years since the duo emerged in our musical psyche.

Since then, their enduring appeal across generations has carved a niche for themselves where pop, folk, new wave and punk collide as the emotional honesty, political fire, wit and sing-along raucousness of their songs and their extensive touring has enlightened and entertained fans around the World.

Last year saw The Proclaimers record their 11th studio album, Angry Cyclist ,at the legendary Rockfield Studios in Wales in April with producer Dave Eringa at the helm.

It became the band’s eighth UK Top 40 album, debuting in the UK Official Album charts at 17 and at number three in the UK Official Independent Album Charts.

It’s been three years since The Proclaimers last came to Australia and they’re looking forward to returning.

“We’ve been coming to Australia since late ‘80s and have loved being there every time. We hope the audiences will enjoy the new songs and the old,” said Charlie and Craig.

The brothers have reached a rarefied status: after three decades they are as innovative as ever and with every album and show played, The Proclaimers continue to garner new fans.

Their songs are timeless: with their catchy tunes and stirring harmonies they capture the full gamut of human emotions.

Expect to hear all the classics including Let’s Get Married, Sunshine on Leith, Letter From America and I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) along with songs from their recent album Angry Cyclist.
