Grammar remains alive in GPS cricket
CRICKET: Toowoomba Grammar has kept its GPS cricket finals hopes alive with a comprehensive defeat of Anglican Church Grammar School at the weekend.
Needing a win to remain in the hunt, TGS came out firing at Mills Oval, sending the visitors in to bat for an immediate impact.
Liam McLiesh, playing in his maiden First XI game of the season, spearheaded the opening spell alongside Dan Brown, to take two quick wickets and have Churchie at 2-17.
TGS was able to maintain that pressure throughout the innings, restricting their opponents to a total of 149.
In an impressive feat, all sevJacob en bowlers from Toowoomba Grammar came away with a wicket.
Requiring 150 for TGS hit a roadblock the run chase. victory, early in
Gross and Jack Thompson were dismissed in quick fashion, leaving TGS at 2-11, before Mitch Doolan and Matt Watson bunkered down and had the scoreboard ticking over.
The pair put on 82 runs for the third-wicket partnership, putting them back on top, before Doolan was dismissed for 65.
Watson brought up his half century before being dismissed, however the game was over by that stage, with TGS winning with six wickets in hand.
With one round of competition remaining, Grammar is three points behind fourthplaced Brisbane Boys College.
TGS needs to defeat Brisbane Grammar School, and hope BBC loses to Brisbane State High School in order to progress to the finals.
