Circumstances change Make sure the NDIA stays up–to–date In writing By phone In person
LIFE happens.
People grow older, family and friends move away, people change jobs, change medical practitioners, change their minds.
Any number of things may happen to change your circumstances, which may affect your participation in the NDIS.
A change in your circumstances may affect your access request, your status as a participant, or your NDIS plan.
Whether you’ve had changes to your disability needs, significant changes to the care or support provided by family or friends, changes to your living arrangements or your job, or have received compensation for an accident or illness related to your disability, it is important to notify the NDIS about these changes.
Keeping the NDIA informed of important changes in your life does not necessarily mean your NDIS plan will be reviewed or changed, but it will ensure your plan meets your current needs.
WHEN DO I NOTIFY THE NDIA OF A CHANGE?
You have to let the NDIA know of a change in your circumstances ‘as soon as is reasonably practicable’.
It’s important to note that you have to notify the NDIA of changes that have already occurred, as well as changes that are likely to happen.
WHAT IF I FAIL TO NOTIFY THE NDIA?
Depending on the nature of the change in your circumstances, your plan may need to be reviewed.
If you don’t keep the NDIA up–to–date on any changes to your supports and continue to receive supports you are no longer entitled to, you may be asked to repay an amount for the funded services.
Failure to inform the NDIA of a change in your circumstances, like a change of address or contact details, may also result in your plan not being reviewed by the schedule date.
HOW DO I DO IT?
You will have to complete the ‘change of circumstances form’, which can be found online or at your local NDIA office.
Depending on what suits your lifestyle and mobility, there are a number of options available for informing the NDIA of a change in your circumstances:
