Golfers set for pink day
Teeing off to fight cancer
WITH dozens of women being diagnosed with breast cancer across Australia every day, it came as no surprise to Petae Frazer how many women in her golfing group were passionate about it.
Mrs Frazer is secretary of the Cabarlah Golf Club Women’s Committee and said many members had either experienced breast cancer or had witnessed a close friend or family member struggling with treatment.
She said the group was really looking forward to hosting Tee Off for Breast Cancer Trials on Tuesday and hoped community members would join the fun and help raise a few dollars while enjoying a lovely day on the greens.
A fundraising initiative of Breast Cancer Trials, Tee Off supports clinical trials research to help every person affected by breast cancer to get the treatment they need to survive.
Researchers aim to identify new and effective treatments that will hopefully take some of the pain and trauma out of the process.
“Breast cancer has touched the lives of many of our members and their families, Mrs
Frazer said.
“We’re proud to support breast cancer clinical trials research and to do this through a game of golf with friends.
“We would love anyone interested in finding a cure for Breast Cancer to join us for a day of fun for a good cause – no golf experience necessary!”
Ms Julie Callaghan, Chief Operating Officer – Fundraising and Philanthropy at Breast Cancer Trials, said the commitment and support of Cabarlah Golf Club and its members was greatly appreciated.
“We rely on the generosity of community groups to continue our research to find new and better treatments for all people affected by breast cancer,” Ms Callaghan said.
“We are thrilled to have the support of Cabarlah Golf Club and I encourage the community to get behind their fundraising efforts because trials save lives.”
