FONDLY REMEMBERED

-

MANY will be sad to read of the passing of Joan Dunlop recently. Joan was writing letters 10 years before I ever saw Toowoomba as more than a dot on the map.

Like the rest of those who write letters, she was often surprised by some of the responses received by letter readers, often persons who have taken the letter entirely out of context.

Joan was a great writer, a good friend and an asset to Toowoomba.

Her letters were missed by many who regularly read the letters pages.

I visited Joan several times after she put her pen down and had a yarn. Joan was one of the ladies involved in the organising the monthly letter writers’ morning tea chats at City Golf Club, which due to the diverse variety of writers and their other commitments, didn’t continue.

So Joan will be fondly remembered by many.

RAY HARCH, Toowoomba
