ISIS accused is ‘delusional’
A SYDNEY man accused of preparing to go to Syria to fight for Islamic State thought he was being spied on through an electronic chip implanted in his head and was “clearly schizophrenic”, a jury has been told.
Moudasser Taleb, 24, has pleaded not guilty to preparing – between early February and mid-June 2017 – to travel to Syria for the purpose of engaging in hostile activities.
Psychiatrist Olav Nielssen told the NSW Supreme Court yesterday that Taleb’s hallucinations and “delusional belief” that he was being spied on meant he was schizophrenic.
