Silverware will be on the line tomorrow night as the men’s pre-season competition comes to a conclusion.

The final of the Club Glenvale Iron Jack Challenge will take centre stage at Clyde Park as Stafford’s Strikers face off with the South Queensland Parcel Service Scorers.

After their round six encounter was abandoned due to rain, their only meeting during the season saw the Strikers come away with a narrow 4-3 victory.

Scorers midfielder Lachlan Brownhalls said the side was hoping to overturn the tables when it mattered the most.

“We’re going in as the underdogs, but you have to be confident heading into a final,” he said.

“Both sides are pretty evenly matched. Across the board

they have a slight edge, but we’re focused on sticking to the process and our game-plan which will hopefully put us in good stead.”

Brownhalls was full of praise for the concept, which is now in its second year, with the aim of creating four even teams across the board as a precursor to the upcoming A1 men’s season.

“What we’re trying to do is get those even teams that can compete and play some hard games against each other, rather than it being a couple horse race,” he said.

“It’s a good concept and it’s great that the committee and players have been able to facilitate what we’re trying to achieve.

“Hopefully this will show some of the younger players different skills and concepts within the game, and they can take that back to their club teams to strengthen the overall club competition.”

After a few wet weeks, the A1 women are hoping to return to action tomorrow night.

With the rain and a bye, Norths hasn’t played since March 1, and will come up against Newtown, who themselves have only played the one game this season.

Rangeville is hoping to make it three wins from as many matches when it takes on Past High.
