Women of Lot Feeding to glam it up for annual social networking event

-

BEEF, Bling and Bow Ties is an annual social networking event hosted by Women of Lot Feeding.

The event is being held on Saturday, May 18, this year.

“Ag is still a very maledominated industry. But in the feedlot industry, about 45 per cent are females. And they’re not just in the office,” WOLF community liaison officer Margaret Harrison said.

“Amanda Moohen came up with the idea when she was selected for the Graeme Acton Memorial Beef Connections Program. She was speaking to another girl at a feedlot function and they put their heads together and said ‘lets do this’.

“Beef, Bling and Bow Ties was originally launched as a high tea and then we changed it to a ball.

“This is our fourth year of the event and the third year of the ball.”

In previous years, Beef, Bling and Bow Ties had been held at the Jondaryan Woolshed, but this year the event will be at Blank Space in Toowoomba.

“It was a bit of an issue with accommodation in Jondaryan,” Ms Harrison said.

“So we thought we’d try things a little bit differently.

“We have a couple of hotels that are doing a deal for people going to the ball – the Applegum Inn and the Comfort Inn Grammar View.”

The event will include drinks, canapes, and a threecourse dinner. There will also be guest speakers including Lauren McNally from Mort and Co. Local feedlots will auction off beef boxes, with funds going to the charity of their choice. There will be live entertainment from local Toowoomba band, Preserve the Moose. Tickets available at toowoombatickets.com.au by searching for Beef, Bling and Bow Ties 2019.
