GOLF: It’s a case of one down, 99 to go for Tom Herbert and Geoff Skinner.

The keen duo, who is organising a charity golf day in November, is calling on 100 businesses to donate $100 each to support Legacy.

Peter Roberts (Honda) teed off proceedings yesterday with the first donation and Herbert is keen to maintain the momentum.

“The support of 100 businesses alone is $10,000 which we can donate to Legacy,” Herbert said.

“On top of that a percentage of the registration fees for the day will be donated to Legacy as well as money we make from the various raffles and auctions we’ll be conducting.

“I’ve organised a few charity golf days in my time and I have to say I take more enjoyment from giving money to a charity or someone in need over putting it in my own pocket.”

Joining forces with Herbert to help organise the day, Skinner is happy to honour and support those in need.

“The history of Legacy is built on mates helping mates,”

the armed forces veteran said.

“It’s also about supporting the families and loved ones of veterans, some of whom made the ultimate sacrifice.

“We see this golf day as a nice simple way for people to support an organisation that

supports so many people.

“The value of $100 is 10-fold when it’s donated to an organisation that is helping others.”

The two-person ambrose event will be held at the Toowoomba Golf Club on November 8 and TGC general manager

Johnathon Zirkler is happy to be involved.

“We (the club) have always considered ourselves as a part of the Toowoomba community,” Zirkler said.

“And because of that we like to give back as a way of thanks

for the support we receive.

“For years we’ve held the Diggers Cup and we see this as another way to support a worthy cause.”
