O’Donnell’s Bakehouse opens another store after almost decade

THE owners of one of Toowoomba’s most popular bakeries have just opened a second store, much to the delight of their many loyal customers.
O’Donnell’s Bakehouse has been operating out of Wilsonton Heights Plaza on Hogg St for nine years, and last week opened a store at Wilsonton Shopping Centre.
The bakehouse is owned by Robyn and Brenden O’Donnell, and, as well as having two retail sites, they also operate a factory which produces their goods and wholesale products.
Along with their team of 37, they are flat out, with making baked goods literally an around-the-clock job.
O’Donnell’s sells fresh bread, cakes, slices, hot pastries and pies, sandwiches and also has a salad bar.
It’s the amazing pastries and fresh bread that the bakehouse is most famous for.
It has been named the best bakery in Toowoomba twice in The Chronicle’s Best of Series over the years, with customers praising the customer service and amazing food.
Mrs O’Donnell said the new store had been very well received so far.
“We are reaching a lot of new people with our second store, but have also had our regulars come down to visit us as well,” she said.
“It’s great because staff in the centre are able to come and get lunch, and the shopping centre customers are popping in to try our food.”
She said it had been a busy few months preparing the new store, but it was already proving to be well worth it.
“We have been flat out the past three years and just thought it was time we expanded with a new retail outlet,” she said.
“It really is a 24/7 workforce that we run, with our team working into the night and starting early morning to create our baked goods.”
