THE exhibitors have set up, the entertainers have honed their voices, the speakers have perfected their presentations, the historic cars are polished and the camellias have bloomed - it’s show time.

At 9am on Saturday, Australia’s largest camellia show opens to the pubic.

Along with getting up close and personal with some of the best flowers in in the region, attendees will hear from two of Australian gardening’s top minds, Sophie Thompson and Jerry Coleby-Williams.

“Gardeners throughout Australia love tuning into ABC Gardening Australia every Friday night and they will be thrilled to know we have two of the stars of the show appearing several times over the two days,” show president Kevin Cotterell said.

“A key feature of this year’s event is the quality of speakers.

“As well, Darling Downs favourite Brian Sams will speak along with the President of the Australian Camellia Society, Darryl Baptie.”

The show organisers extended the competition to a wider range of gardeners this year. For the first time there are creative camellia competitions encouraging primary and secondary kids to make something special out of recycled materials and one camellia.

With $100 in prizes on offer the organisers expect a large number of entries.

The focus is on camellias. However the event will also boast a large exhibition centre, demonstrations, non-stop entertainment, local produce stall, car displays and foods from around the world.

The show starts 9am, July 20-21, at the TAFE Toowoomba quadrangle, off Campbell St.
