“They did a fantastic job,”
Conway said.
“They started off a little bit slowly, but after losing one game, changed our strategy, all came together and did a terrific job.
“It’s a bit of a learning curve. While they’ve had the experience with the BQJBC, with continuous games the girls really did have to step it up.
“It can be tiring. As coaching staff, we found that we had to manage this, change the diets with lunches, and really keep on top of this to keep the girls motivated.”
They will remain in good stead for next season, with three players out of the eight set to remain in the U14s division, while the other five will rise in grade to the U16s.
The Mountaineers U12 boys finished fourth in division three after progressing to the bronze medal game, while the Toowoomba U12 girls came in 15th in division two after downing Southern Districts.
