Charity organisation backs region’s top junior and senior athletes
SPORTS Darling Downs threw its support behind another batch of talented athletes last Friday.
The non-for-profit organisation handed out 30 awards last week in an effort to advance the sporting careers of junior and senior athletes from across the region.
SDD president Mick Smith said the quality of nominees was as high as ever.
“We actually had to turn down six Queensland representatives,” Smith said.
“Unfortunately, we simply didn’t have enough awards to hand out this time round.”
Determined to help as many athletes as possible, Smith said SDD was always willing to accept new sponsors.
“We’ve had some fantastic sponsors over the years, and we value the support of each and every one of them,” Smith said.
“Some of our sponsors have been with us since the very beginning.
“We’re always on the hunt for new sponsors though – every sponsor we get is another athlete we can help.”
