CROSSFIT: Seven workouts stand between Liv Kelly and a ticket to the CrossFit Games.

Kelly heads to China next week for the Pandaland CrossFit

Challenge having booked her spot in the “sanctional” event through the competition’s online qualifiers.

The top 10 athletes after the first six workouts will qualify for the final workout, the winner of which earns a place at the 2020 CrossFit Games in the United States.

“That’s the dream – booking that golden ticket for the games,” Kelly said.

“Ultimately I’m aiming for a top-10 finish so I can qualify for the final.

“I’m really excited about right now, I’m looking forward to competing.

“I imagine some nerves might kick in a little bit when I’m there in China on the competition floor, but that’s all part of it.”

“My coach (Anthony Smoothy) is coming with me, and I made him learn Chinese so hopefully that makes things easier.”

Despite a demanding time

packed with competition, training, work and day-to-day life demands, Kelly’s passion for the sport hasn’t diminished.

“I’m feeling really good,” the Toowoomba crossfitter said.

“I recently competed at the Torian Pro in Brisbane and thought I did quite well.

“I also qualified for a sanctional event in Argentina, but I decided to go for the Pandaland challenge in China because it’s a little closer to home and therefore less expensive.

“I love crossfit because it’s a never ending test.

“There’s always opportunities for you to learn, grow and improve.

“You get stronger and improve the more you train, but there’s always something you can do a little better, something else you focus on.”
