FINANCIAL members of the Millmerran Centenary Retirement Village have voted in favour of transferring custodianship of Yallambee Aged Care to aged care provider McLean Care.

Yallambee has had a long history of serving the Millmerran community since it was established in 1984, with state-ofthe-art facilities that were only recently refurbished and extended in July 2019.

However, faced with ongoing challenges including sector reforms, the board of management recognised the need to transfer custodianship to another like-minded provider, McLean Care said in a statement.

MCRV board president John Rogers said of 77 financial members present at the special meeting on Monday night, 90% voted in favour of transferring the facility to McLean Care.

Mr Rogers said he expected to have the transfer deed signed before Christmas, and was looking to the first quarter of 2020 for the changeover.

He saw the vote as members supporting the board’s past strategies and their recommendations for the future.

McLean Care was selected after a competitive expression of interest process and have a proven track record of transitioning the custodianship of organisations with sensitivity and with minimal impact to residents or staff.

The company said in a statement that “the people of Millmerran can be assured that they will continue to have access to quality aged care within their own community with the opportunity to access expanded services tailored to the community’s unique needs”.

“As a community-operated organisation in regional Australia, McLean Care is continually looking for to the best way to deliver quality aged care services within the unique and challenging environment of operating in rural and remote communities. We prioritise keeping seniors in their own communities, close to family and friends,” McLean Care CEO Sue Thomson said.
