9 THINGS TO DO FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE

1) QUEENS PARK FAMILY CELEBRATIO­N

When: From 4pm, December 31 Where: Queens Park, off Margaret St COME celebrate New Year’s Eve at Queens Park, with plenty of family entertainm­ent, food and drink on offer.

This year’s event will see a laser show replace the fireworks out of respect to emergency services and due to the current fire conditions in the region. Attendees will have the opportunit­y to donate to a bushfire cause and perform a rain dance, so bring your gum boots, umbrella and good will. The laser show will start at 7.45pm

2) MASQUERADE BALL

When: From 7pm, December 31 Where: George Banks rooftop bar Bring in 2020 with a masquerade ball at the George Banks rooftop bar. The bar promises special surprises all night long so guests can immerse themselves in the magic of George Banks.

Tickets come with an all-inclusive package of fresh seafood and spirits, including cured meats, delectable canapes and a selection of GB favourites.

3) RETRO BEACH PARTY

When: From 7pm, December 31 Where: Bar Wunder

Want to see in the new year, in summery comfort? Bar Wunder is hosting a beach party minus the beach. This will be one NYE where you can head out for a night on the town in your best beach wear, with comfy thongs a must.

Plan for a night in Tikki Bar style. Think tropical cocktails, retro beach music, karaoke and a night in tikki bar heaven. There will be prizes awarded for the best dressed.

4) BUSH DANCE

When: From 7.30pm, December 31 Where: Jondaryan Woolshed DANCE your way into the New Year at the Jondaryan Woolshed’s New Year’s Eve bush dance.

There will be live music by Ridgee Didge Bush Band and DJ Veetone, a light supper and a stocked bar. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children and can be purchased at jondaryanw­oolshed.com.au.

5) NYE WITH THE JAZZ SOCIETY

When: From 8pm, December 31 Where: North Toowoomba Bowls Club

A DASH of glitz, a touch of glam and a whole lot of fun are promised at this year’s Jazz Society event.

Come along for a fantastic evening of live music and dancing to see the old year out and the New Year in. Fabulous local band Connect the Dots will be centre stage to entertain with classic and favourite jazz and swing tunes. There will be prizes handed out throughout the night.

Entry is $15 on the door and while there will be no meals available, a bar will be open.

6) ROARING 20S PARTY

When: From 6pm, December 31 Where: Hola, Walton Stores STAFF at Hola cordially invite you to celebrate 2020 with them at their Roaring 20s Gatsby themed soiree. Come dressed in your finest 1920s flapper and gangster attire and immerse yourself in the glamour and decadence of the 1920s. 7) HIGHFIELDS TAVERN

When: From 6pm, December 31 Where: Highfields Tavern HIGHFIELDS Tavern will be hosting a New Year’s Eve celebratio­n which includes plenty of great food and drink alongside a performanc­e from local duo VOF.

They also promise free lifts into town following the celebratio­ns.

8) THREE BANDS PLAY NYE

When: 6pm, December 31

Where: Hotel Norville

JOIN the Dale Robbins Band, WestSide Thang and Sunset Stereo at Hotel Norville this New Year’s Eve to bring in 2020 with some great music.

9) PARTY AT FITZY’S

When: 5pm, December 31

Where: Fitzy’s on Church

SHINE bright like a diamond this New Year’s Eve at Fitzy’s. Cheers to the year almost gone and the new one ahead with a drink in hand and back to back live music. With a day off the next day, it would be rude not to really. Rumour has it there may be a bit of a surprise at midnight too. This event is free entry.
