PROFANITY IS NOT PROGRESS

WHY does the rise of the Left feel like the fall of civility? Why do so many “progressives” sound like barbarians?

This goes beyond the streetfighting ferals and “f… ScoMo” protesters. How about the “progressives” at the ABC, our national broadcaster?

Take Osman Faruqi, who was an ABC editor until he recently joined Morrie Schwartz, publisher of “Aboriginal historian” Bruce Pascoe. Last Friday, Faruqi tweeted: “If your heart aches a bit on Valentine’s Day I can strongly recommend reading the detailed, blow-by-blow account of Captain Cook’s violent death on this day in 1779. A heartwarming story of indigenous revenge …!”

Captain James Cook was one of the most enlightened men of his times, and was murdered in a fight started by Hawaiians stealing one of his boats. That Faruqi could consider a “blow by blow” account of his murder “heartwarming” is chilling.

Also tweeting venom on Friday was long-time ABC commentator Paul Bongiorno, now also working for Schwartz. He accused Finance Minister Mathias Cormann, who has a German accent, of arguing in the style of Nazi Joseph Goebbels.

When Cormann protested against this “despicable” ethnic slur, Bongiorno defended himself by insisting Cormann was born in Belgium, so “his accent is Flemish” (Belgian Dutch). Someone saying the opposite was “a dumb ignorant bastard”. But the “dumb ignorant bastard” seems to me to be Bongiorno himself. Cormann was born in a German-speaking part of Belgium, not Flemish.

ABC host Benjamin Law, the gay activist, pledged to “hate-f..k” Liberal MPs such as Andrew Hastie, who opposed gay marriage.

The ABC even published Law threatening: “Some of us are … built like brick sh.thouses and could demolish Andrew Bolt’s face if we wanted to, and that is definitely fine by me.”

Its Q&A last year starred a panellist who demanded the murder of men accused of rape, and another who urged Aborigines: “Let’s burn stuff.”

Another called a conservative candidate a “c...”, and the ABC comedy Get Krack!n had Miranda Tapsell and Nakkiah Lui smashing the set while ranting against white Australians.

Where are such ABC “progressives” progressing to? The caves?
