REVIEW: For ABBA and theatre fans alike, the musical production of Mamma Mia!, directed by James Shaw, was the perfect balance of romance, drama and well-timed laughs.

The beautiful set captured the essence of the Greek islands in a beautiful backdrop for the cast’s outstanding performance.

Leading ladies Diana Holt (Donna) and Sophie Volp (Sophie) delivered wonderful song after song, doing absolute justice to the ABBA classics.

You couldn’t help but sing along.

Michael Escober (Sam), Trent Sellars (Harry) and Tristan James (Bill) did a fantastic job as Sophie’s dads and Donna’s love interests.

Their heartwarming performances left you feeling warm and fuzzy, and some localised jokes left the audience in stitches.

The costumes were well designed, with favourites being the spandex suits worn by Donna and the Dynamos during their performance at Sophie’s hens night (and later by some male members of the cast).

Mamma Mia! is the perfect show for a night out, or something to see with the whole family, with a chance to get up and dance at the end.
