Business community needs your support despite virus fears
OUR thoughts go out to all impacted by COVID-19.
I know this sounds like the bleeding obvious, but the everchanging nature of the impact of the COVID-19 is a serious issue which is causing me, from a personal perspective, anxiety. Why?
It is about the health and safety of the entire community, our families and friends.
As an advocate for the business community, the potential impact on small business has resulted in some sleepless nights for me.
We probably all know a family member or friend who is employed in a small business or someone whose business is their livelihood, their source of income, their way of life.
The chamber acknowledges the potential significant impact on people’s personal and professional lives.
For these reasons, we are supporting our state body, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland in advocating hard and working with government to deliver recovery packages for people and small business.
I consider it now essential that the Toowoomba Chamber continues to strongly advocate for business by insisting on the delivery of a small business package at the local level.
The starting point should be the implementation of the Toowoomba Business Priorities
commitments prepared in consultation with the local business community.
Industry packages have been announced by both Federal and State governments to support small business.
Is it enough?
Is it what you need?
Let us know, by emailing admin@toowoombachamber.com.au and we will advocate for you.
The Toowoomba Chamber will continue to operate and follow the advice of experts and government.
We will share as much information as we can from our members, CCIQ, government and others to assist all businesses during these challenging and uncertain times.
One of the best ways to continue to be able to support our community including the business community is to follow the common themes of health experts who say, prevention is the key.
They advise the things we can do every day to help prevent the spread of the virus.
My summary is wash hands regularly, cover our mouth and nose when we cough or sneeze, avoid touching our eyes and face, clean frequently touched places often, stop shaking hands and keep your distance when interacting with others.
The business community is the lifeblood of the Toowoomba region, and I ask you to find ways to support them, I will be.
Their livelihoods may be dependent on it.
