A 16-YEAR-OLD boy accused of threatening his 15-year-old de-facto partner with a knife during a domestic argument remains in custody until a suitable bail address can be found for him.

The teenager, who as a juvenile cannot be named, appeared in custody before Toowoomba Children’s Court during a special sitting of the court on show holiday Thursday.

He was not required to enter pleas to charges of contravening a police protection order, obstructing police and failing to appear in court.

His parents were in court supporting him.

Objecting to the teen’s application for bail, police prosecutor Sergeant Tim Hutton told the court the 16-year-old was already on bail for two counts of breaching a domestic violence order and that he had allegedly failed to appear in court on one of those earlier this month.

Police claim the lad had held a knife and made threats during an argument at the couple’s Harristown home on Wednesday night.

Duty solicitor Nathan Bouchier, of Bouchier Khan Lawyers, told the court his client had put forward a number of bail addresses, but police had found those to be unsuitable.

Sgt Hutton said there appeared there could an address for the lad that was suitable but that had to be checked out by police first.

Magistrate Damian Carroll said he could not release the teen on bail until a suitable bail address was found.

Mr Carroll remanded the lad in custody and adjourned the matter for a continuation of the bail application back in the same court tomorrow.
